Pixelmator Tip #56 – How To Quickly Create The iPhone X Wallpaper

Ninja Share:

Every Apple event has an fantastic poster which is a piece of art in itself, and this years iPhoneX event does not disappoint. It uses simple fades and vivid colours to delight.

We love this poster for its simplicity and range of colours, so in this tutorial we will show you how to quickly recreate the iPhoneX event wallpaper using Pixelmator.

Here is a screenshot from the iPhoneX event if you don’t know what I am talking about.

The final product

Here is what you will create by the end of this tutorial.

Step 1:

Create a new document 1024x768px.

Fill the background with a dark blue colour. We just selected #011993 from the colour palette.

Step 2:

Open the Effects panel (CMD + 3), and then select Stylize, and then Light Leak. Drag the effect onto the blue background, and move the handles similar to the below.

Step 3:

Add in all the other features such as the Apple Logo and an iPhone X.

In our poster we used our recently published iPhone X template. When using this template, make sure to duplicate the background layer, and then create the clipping mask to the layer called ADD IMAGE HERE. This will give you the effect of the background coming through the phone.

We finally arrive at out final poster, which isn’t exactly the same as the iPhone X poster, but close enough.
